The shop is located at Jl. RE Martadinata, Wirobrajan, Yogyakarta. The owner, Bu Tari (Mrs. Tari), also work as the expert jamu brewer of the shop.  Every afternoon, this shop is lined with customers who want to stay in shape with Mrs. Tari’s jamu.

Before managing the jamu shop, as a child, Bu Tari helped her mother selling jamu around her neighborhood. From his mother, Mbok Mangun (Ma Mangun), she inherited her talent and ability to brew jamu. Mbok Mangun herself was a daughter of a royal servant in the Yogyakarta Palace during the time of Hamengku Buwana IX who happened an expert of jamu brewing for members of the palace family. The recipes for those jamu were then passed down to Mbok Mangun, who was later passed on to Bu Tari.

Bu Tari’s jamu shop opens from 17.00 up to the evening, when she had sold all her jamu. When the Jamupedia team stopped by the shop, there were already several customers waiting. These customers come to order jamu according to their health complaints. Bu Tari will then mix, brew and squeeze (hence the name jamu peres, squeezed jamu) the jamu accordingly.

Unlike the ready-to-drink instant jamu, the Jamu Bu Tari Jamu shop is brewed and squeezed in front of consumers. There we can see pans and basins containing shredded jamu ingredients. These materials will be squeezed and brew according to customer orders. The taste of each jamu ingredients is very pronounced, as Bu Tari chooses fresh and quality ingredients for each of jamu. Not surprisingly, the jamu has a stronger and thicker taste.

If you visit Jogja, take the time to stop by the Jamu Bu Tari shop. Feel the taste of legendary jamu that has been passed down for generations. There is no need to hesitate, apart from the hygiene and cleanliness of the shop, the efficacy of Bu Tari’s jamu has been empirically proven by many customers. In fact, the customers are not only people around Jogja but also come from various regions outside the special province.
