Kencur /aromatic ginger (Kaempferia galangal) has various beneficial substances for our bodies. Here is a brief description of the three substances in kencur and their pharmacological effects.
Flavonoids
Flavonoids are active compounds found in many plants. This substance is useful for repairing cells damaged by free radicals. In addition, flavonoids also function to reduce the risk of cancer, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
Sineol
Sineol is widely found in plants and is useful as an anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, and maintains the immune system.
Sinamat
Sinamate is an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory propertis. It is also an inhibitor of the enzyme tyrosinase (an enzyme needed to protect the skin from ultraviolet rays).
