Coughing is a body’s natural response to external unwanted particles entering the body. Coughing helps the body to clear mucus or coughing causes out of the body.

Coughing can affect anyone, both children and adults. However, children are more prone to coughs because their immune system is not yet perfect. In addition, children also do not have self-control in not to consume foods or drinks that can trigger coughs, such as candy, ice cream, snacks, or others.

Generally, mild cough can heal on its own without the need for special treatment. However, there are some natural ingredients that can help to cure or relieve coughing so they don’t become severe. One of the natural ingredients for treating a mild cough is bawang putih (garlic).

Garlic contains antiseptic, antibacterial, calcium, and anti-cholesterol which are very effective in killing cough-causing bacteria. Moreover, garlic also contains various vitamins and minerals to increase body endurance.

Well, here is a garlic-based recipe for making traditional medicines to treat coughs.


  • 20 g bawang putih
  • 250 cc milk

How to make:

  1. Peel and wash the bawang putih.
  2. Mash the bawang putih until smooth.
  3. Heat the milk.
  4. Mix bawang putih with milk.
  5. Drink it while it warm.
