Diarrhea is caused by food and drink exposure to viruses, bacteria and parasites, food poisoning, drug side effects, intestinal diseases, and food allergies. In addition, the most common cause of diarrhea is eating with dirty hands. Therefore, diarrhea is closely related to individual hygiene.
Symptoms are usually in the form of heartburn to bowel movements more than 3 times a day, watery stools and even bleeding, dizziness, weakness, and dehydration. Dehydration caused by loss of body fluids after diarrhea can be fatal if not treated immediately.
You can relieve diarrhea by drinking jamu made from daun jambu biji (guava leaves). Daun jambu biji contain flavonoids that can inhibit and treat diarrhea. In addition, there are tannins that can reduce the pores in the anus, thereby reducing the flow of water into the intestine and making the stool less watery.
The following is how you will turn the daun jambu biji into a diarrhea buster herb:
Ingredients:
- A handful of young and fresh daun jambu biji
- 1 tsp salt
- Enough water
How to make:
- Wash the guava leaves clean and mash until smooth.
- Boil water.
- Pour boiled water over the pounded guava leaves.
- Add salt and mix well.
- Once cool, squeeze and strain.
You can drink the herb 2-3 times a day until the diarrhea heals. If diarrhea persists, check with your doctor right away. Lastly, maintain healthy living style and keep away from undercooked food and drinks to avoid diarrhea from attacking again.
