Basically, dark armpits are caused by our own lifestyle. Without realizing it, the habits that we often do, turn out to be factors in dark underarms. Among them:
- Shaving armpit hair with a dull razor
Armpit skin is sensitive and easily irritated. Therefore, when shaving underarms, make sure to apply shaving cream first to make it safer. Choose shaving instead of plucking because shaving does not remove the hairs, so the hair follicles are still visible below the surface and make the armpits look darker.

- Wrong choice of deodorant
Using deodorant is the easiest way to reduce body odor. However, deodorants are thought to make the armpits darker. Especially if there is alcohol content to irritate the skin.
- Friction from tights outfits
Tight dresses make your movement space narrower and more limited. This is what causes friction between your tights and the surface of the armpit skin, which is believed to be very sensitive, causing dark underarms. Therefore, use slightly loose clothes and made of synthetic materials that have coarse fibers.
- Smoking
Besides being not good for health, smoking can also cause dark underarms. Smoking causes hyperpigmentation because the adrenal glands do not function properly in the body which ultimately results in failure to produce hormones and causes dark underarm skin.
- Rarely clean armpits
Rarely cleaned arm pits are certainly a place for bacteria and dirt to grow and develop which eventually accumulates and forms dead skin cells. The number of dead skin cells is what makes the skin darker. Therefore, be diligent in doing scrubs or scrubbing the areas 1x or 2x a week.
