Jamu kunyit asam (jamu turmeric-tamarind) contains curcumin. It’s good to treat inflammation and calm down stomach contractions. Curcumin prevent the production of prostaglandins, an inflammatory hormone and pain in the stomach. In addition, the analgesic properties of turmeric reduce pain.
Jamu kunyit asam improve blood flow in the body, as this jamu is known as a source of estrogen -Thus making the period cycle smoother.
The curcumin in kunyit also balance chemicals in the brain to avoid unstable mood swings.
In addition, Jamu kunyit asam also has antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties to smooth the digestive system.
You can find Jamu kunyit asam at any nearest herbal shops or via online online stores such as, tokopedia, Bukalapak, shopee and others. However, you can also make the jamu yourself. It’s easy. Here’s the recipe.
Ingredients:
- 20 g of turmeric
- 5 ginger
- 5 g kencur/aromatic ginger (Kaempferia galanga)
- 6 g tamarind
- 1 tsp. lime juice
- 1 tsp. sugar
How to make:
- Clean all ingredients and cut into small pieces.
- Put in the blender: turmeric, ginger and kencur.
- Add 1 glass of boiled water and blend.
- Strain the water.
- Take a stainless-steel pan, pour the water and tamarind, boil for 5 minutes.
- Strain the water. Place it in a glass and add lime juice.
- Add brown sugar and stir well.
